MIRMEKOLOGIJA v Sloveniji
This page introduces some interesting research on different ant species and ants in general. Research is personal as well as data found on the internet and elsewhere. It includes files found on the internet, ant journals, pictures etc. The Projects list some of my observations, reports and other undertakings. The Compendia are something that comes in very handy and they are my best personal contribution to myrmecology so far - at least I consider them to be. I have included pages in my first mother-tongue, Slovene (German being my second). I hope I can spur some interest in myrmecology here in Slovenia as well.
I don't know "latkes" about web-design so please excuse the simplicity of the site, it's not about aesthetics after all! I just wanted to share my data and knowledge with a broader audience. I'm sure it will provide helpful information to some people.

Lep pozdrav vsem, ki ste se odločili obiskati to spletno stran. Na tej strani je moč najti mnogo informacij o mravljah, tako v slovenščini, kot tudi v angleščini. Ker je večina interesentov za mirmekologijo (mirmekologija je veda o mravljah ali mravljeslovje) angleško govorečih, so tekoči projekti in dnevniki napisani v angleščini. Na slovenskih straneh pa sem napisal nekaj osnov o mravljah s poudarkom na vrstah, ki uradno živijo v Sloveniji. Seveda bom članke dodajal in dopolnjeval. Nekoč pa upam, da bodo tudi strani v slovenščini nekoliko bolj obširne.
Mravlje (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) so zelo zanimiva bitja, ki najbrž zaradi svoje velikosti (beri majhnosti) ne vzbujajo posebne pozornosti. Mravlja predstavlja le majhen košček celote. Pomembno je mravljišče, ne posamezna mravlja. Ko pogledamo mravljišče, ki ga strokovnjaki pogosto imenujejo kar superorganizem, se nam razprostre cela množica prizorov. Navidezen nered kot celota deluje izjemno organizirano in učinkovito. Posebnost mravelj je to, da so, podobno kot bližnje sorodnice ose in čebele, organizirane v skupnost ali zadrugo. Socialno življenje teh žuželk je nepredstavljivo kompleksno, raznovrstno in skrivnostno, in zato je opazovanje le-tega lahko izredno zanimivo.

06. 03. 2005 I've finally taken the time to incorporate new data into the Lasius niger Compendium. So now I present to you version 1.3 of the Compendium. A lot of new information is included and some of the older edited. Count on a few more Compendia in the next week or two! |

28. 02. 2005 I have updated all the journals - now they should be updated on a more regular basis. Since some of the colonies do not exist anymore I had to change the journals section a little. |

09. 09. 2004 I have added a few pictures and reorganized the pictures section a little to make it more navigable. The new pictures were taken with a lot of help by my friend Matjaž Gregorič - thanks. The journals have been updated as well. |

05. 09. 2004 Many new pictures have been added - even new Queens which I hope will produce a new colony! I'm working on improving my photographer-skills. I'm supposed to get some help on tuesday - we'll see! Končno sem taksonomsko posodobil seznam slovenskih mravelj. Dodal sem članek o tem, kako lahko "gojimo" mravlje kar doma. Dodal sem tudi povezavo na Slovensko entomološko društvo. |

31. 08. 2004 Most of the hits on this Website are from Germany and many from Austria - maybe I should change it all to a pure German speaking site;) Danke euch, Ameisenfans!!! Končno sem uspel dodati prvi članek tudi v slovenščini! Članek opisuje povprečno življenjsko pot mravljišča. Pričakujte več zelo kmalu (članek, kako mravlje opazovati doma!). I have added another journal to the Journals section and updated all of them, except M. ruginodis. A few more Plagiolepis pygmaea, Lasius niger pictures have been added - first worker shots and Queen aggression! Some minor changes to the design. |
